NRA Employee Benefits


This package includes:

  • Medical Insurance: The NRA provides two options for medical insurance - an Open Access Plan Standard and an Open Access Plus High Deductible Health Plan through CIGNA Healthcare. The NRA contributes toward the monthly premium of employee, family and two-party coverage. Employees can pay their portion of the premium with pre-tax dollars.
  • Dental Insurance: The NRA provides dental insurance through CIGNA Healthcare. The NRA contributes toward the monthly premium of employee, family and two-party coverage. Employees can pay their portion of the premium with pre-tax dollars.
  • Prescription Drug Program: The NRA provides prescription drug benefits to those and their dependents enrolled in the CIGNA Healthcare medical insurance plan through the NRA. Co-payments for generic and non-generic prescriptions vary accordingly with plan provisions. The NRA also offers mail order pharmacy under the program for convenience of ordering maintenance prescription drugs. Prescription drug benefits are honored at any accepting pharmacy.
  • Vision Care: The NRA provides vision coverage on a voluntary basis. Vision benefits are available for employees and their dependents by EyeMed Insurance. Reimbursement for eye exams, eyeglasses, lenses, and contacts vary accordingly with plan provisions.
  • Health Care /Dependent Care Reimbursement Flexible Spending Account: The NRA offers a health care reimbursement flexible spending account. This account allows you to deduct money through convenient payroll reductions on a pre-tax basis in order to pay for eligible un-reimbursed medical, dental, and prescription expenses.
  • Dependent Care Reimbursement Flexible Spending Account: The NRA offers a dependent care reimbursement flexible spending account. This account allows for the deduction of money through convenient payroll reductions on a pre-tax basis in order to pay for eligible dependent care, such as day care for a child under age 13.
  • Group Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance:The NRA provides group term life insurance coverage to include accidental death and dismemberment. The amount of life insurance coverage is equal to twice the staff member's annual salary. Life Insurance and AD&D benefits are through Unum Insurance Company. Monthly premiums are paid by the NRA.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance: NRA employees have the option to purchase additional life insurance through Unum Insurance Company. The amount of additional life insurance available for purchase equals 1 or 2x annual salary. The cost of this coverage is based on your age and the amount of insurance you are purchasing. Employees can pay the premium with pre-tax dollars.
  • Dependent Life Insurance: NRA employees have the option to purchase dependent life insurance through Unum Insurance Company. The maximum amount of dependent life insurance that may be purchased is $50,000 for a spouse and $10,000 per dependent child to the age of 26. This coverage is available through convenient payroll deduction.
  • Short Term Disability Insurance:NRA provides each employee with short term disability income if they should become unable to work due to an illness or injury. Benefits begin following a fourteen (14) calendar day elimination period and are payable for a total of 11 weeks up to a maximum of $1500 weekly. After the fourteen (14) calendar day elimination period, disabled employees will receive 70% of their weekly earnings. Monthly premiums to Unum Insurance Company are paid by the NRA.
  • Long Term Disability Insurance: At no cost to employees, the NRA provides a long term disability plan to ensure income protection for staff members who become totally disabled for longer than 90 days as a result of illness or injury. The plan, administered through Unum Insurance Company, pays 60% of a staff member's regular monthly salary up to a maximum of $16,000 monthly, provided all eligibility requirements are met.
  • Pre-Paid Legal Services: The NRA provides pre-paid legal services on a voluntary basis. There are two plan options available – Basic and Enhanced coverage. Legal benefits are available to employees and their dependents by ARAG Legal Plan. Attorney fees for covered legal services are 100% paid-in-full when members work with a Network Attorney.
  • Travel Accident Insurance: At no cost to employees, the NRA provides $400,000 of accidental death or dismemberment insurance for staff members on business travel.
  • Annual Leave: Regular full-time NRA staff members accrue annual leave in their first year at the rate of 2.88 hours per pay period, up to 10 days per year. Annual leave accruals increase with length of service. Unused, accrued leave may be carried forward into the next calendar year, up to a maximum of 225 hours.
  • Sick Leave:Regular full-time employees receive 75 hours of sick leave each January 1st. Employees starting with the NRA after January 1st will accrue 2.88 hours of sick leave per pay period until the next January 1st. Accumulated, unused sick leave may be carried forward into the next calendar year, up to a maximum of 200 hours.
  • Holidays: The NRA currently recognizes the following days as paid holidays for all full-time employees:
    • New Year's Day
    • President's Day
    • Independence Day
    • Veteran's Day
    • Day after Thanksgiving
    • Martin Luther King, Jr. B-Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving Day
    • Christmas Day
  • Tuition Benefits: The NRA supports employees who are working toward a job related degree program. Employees who have completed one year of service may apply for tuition reimbursement. Grades of a C or better must be achieved to receive full or partial benefits under the tuition plan.
  • Retirement Benefits: The NRA provides a 401(k) retirement benefit plan for staff members who have completed 90 days of service (as defined in the Plan Document) with the Association. Actual enrollment into the plan is on the first available quarter after completing 90 days of service. Employees can contribute up to 100% of their annual salary on a pre-tax basis, subject to IRS limits. All employee contributions are immediately vested upon contribution.
  • Pay Periods: The standard work week for NRA staff members is 37.5 hours. Pay periods are bi-weekly.
